AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands, 25 April 2017 - After the recent ENGIE acquisition of EV-Box, both organisations will join forces on the Europe Electric Vehicle Road Trip (EVRT). The aim of this event is to accelerate electric vehicle (EV) adoption and the transition to a sustainable, low-carbon future. A challenge that is not new for ENGIE. In February, the Group sponsored the Emirates EVRT and installed all EV charging stations along the route of the four day zero-emission race.
As part of this partnership ENGIE local Services entities will install six EV-Box charging points in three European locations (Berlin, Munich, Turin) at InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG) hotels and participate to Global EVRT E-mobility conferences and round tables in London, Paris and Turin.
The partnership underlines ENGIE’s ambition to become a global electric vehicle charging leader by combining EV-Box world's leading electric vehicle charging solutions (with over 48,000 charging stations in service) and local ENGIE presence in more than 70 countries.
“We are delighted to continue our relationship with ENGIE after a successful Emirates EVRT back in February 2017.” Benjamin PULLEN, Managing Director Global EVRT said.
“ENGIE launched Better Mobility TODAY commitment a couple of months ago, promoting more than 20 solutions to our customers for a cleaner, more fluid and intelligent mobility. After the acquisition of EV BOX, becoming an Official Green Mobility Partner for the ESCP Europe EVRT 2017, is another step forward. With electric mobility, we are on the brink of a double revolution for energy systems and urban mobility systems.” concluded Mathias LELIEVRE, Director ENGIE Green Mobility.
EV-Box: a leading electric charging player
EV-Box has been developing and selling electric vehicle charging solutions since 2010 and has already established its market leadership in its home country. The company sells charging stations, charging management software and services to business, public sector and residential customers and has developed a reputation for market-leading quality and innovation. EV-Box has recently started extending its geographical reach into Belgium, France, Scandinavia, Germany, the UK and the USA, while still reaching over 20 countries through a strong base of partners.
Green mobility at ENGIE
ENGIE considers transportation as one major development focus. Transportation is responsible for 23% of CO2 emissions in the world (and even 30% in Europe); 95% of the energy consumed by this sector comes from oil. Today, the transformation to a mobility that is less CO2 emitting, less polluting, and more fluid is essential, particularly in cities where three out of every four people will live by 2050. To meet this challenge ENGIE is developing urban planning advisory activities, solutions for public transport (electrification, signal system installations, service optimisation), alternative fuels (including electric mobility and natural gas) and digital platforms to improve traffic fluidity.
